A reflection on the past year - Discussion & Thoughts 2009
Thinking back on 2009, Long Island Food Not Bombs did a lot! It was a year of community solidarity. As friends, as neighbors, as individuals, we all struggled against the hardships forced onto us by the recession. But as a community we were able to overcome them. And with that in mind we invite you to glance over some of our achievements in the past year.

Less talk, more action - Discussion and Thoughts 2009
“Less talk, more action”. Each experience that I’ve shared with LIFNB over the past year has renewed this adage for me.
From the day in June 2009 when I first participated with LIFNB and Hempstead community members to improve the quality of their living space by planting sunflowers in Mirchell Park, I could sense this group’s unique potential to positively impact Long Island.

LIFNB Vegan Fall Festival in Hempstead Today!
Today's Long Island Food Not Bombs weekly Food Share in Hempstead will be moved to Mirschel Park for a community building Fall Festival/BBQ. We will be sharing prepared food and might be cooking on site. Mirschel Park is located at the intersection of Terrace Ave & Atlantic Ave (about 4-5 blocks from where we currently set up).

The Long Island Food Not Bombs "Vegan Fall Festival", which was supposed to occur 2 weeks ago was postponed because of rain. We've now rescheduled the event for this Sunday and we hope you join us. Please spread the word far and wide!

Long Island Food Not Bombs Vegan Fall Festival This Sunday!
Long Island Food Not Bombs weekly Food Share will be moved on September 27th to Mirschel Park for a community building Fall Festival/ vegan BBQ. We will be sharing prepared food and might be cooking on site. We will have ballon animals, books, apple cider and other yummy treats.

The Mirschel Park community gardening project was a huge success
Our gardening project at Mirschel Park was a huge success. We planted tens-of-thousands of sunflower seeds across thousands of square feet of the park with the help of nearly a hundred volunteers over a three-day weekend of community direct action.
