Long Island Food Not Bombs Thanksgiving Bonanza 2012

Hurricane Sandy will not stop us! Starting, November 17th and going on through November 24th, Long Island Food Not Bombs and Community Solidarity, Inc. will be holding their largest endeavor to date; it will include parties, Food Shares, copious amounts of decadent meals, the sharing of clothing, books and the organized efforts of hundreds of community members.

New Wyandanch Food Share kick-off went great!

It’s been something of an incredible week for Long Island Food Not Bombs & Community Solidarity, Inc. For starters, this past Saturday (August, 18th) we just kicked off our brand-new weekly Wyandanch Food Share. It was phenomenal!

2012 School Supplies Drive! Help LIFNB & CS Share Needed Supplies this Back-2-School Season!

It's back-to-school season and students need their school supplies, but for many Long Island families this can be a costly burden to overcome. Purchases like notebooks, backpacks, sneakers, etc… add up quickly and create a heavy burden on many families struggling in this terrible economy.

It Starts With a Seed: Local Elementary School Grows Produce for FNB!

For the children at Park Avenue Elementary School in Merrick, solidarity isn’t a spectator sport. Over the past two years the school’s ecology club, called the “Green Team”, has literally gotten their hands dirty transforming an unused space into a beautiful vegetable garden.

Looking at the Numbers: What We Do In Just a Few Hours

Hey everyone,

This past May 1st marked the 1-year anniversary of our nonprofit Community Solidarity. Since it’s creation, Community Solidarity has helped expanded the tactics and tools we use at Long Island Food Not Bombs to many more people and organizations. Each week we share healthy groceries with thousands of people and with dozens of community projects and soup kitchens.

Run 4 Long Island - Support Community Solidarity, Fight Hunger

Jon Stepanian (aka JonSTeps), of Community Solidarity, Inc. & Long Island Food Not Bombs, is proposing to run across Long Island to raise awareness to the hunger, poverty and discrimination that occurs here in our backyard! His endeavor will take place on May 19th and will seek to fundraise $50,000 for the hunger relief programs he’s helped to found.
