Hey everyone,
I know we have a lot of really awesome stuff coming up -- anarchist book fair this weekend! -- and I don't want to overload your schedules -- but I'm looking for some input on a possible benefit reading. People reading would be me, Maria, my friend Ekoko (we're at NYU together), I emailed Dana, and honestly whoever else is interested and has something creative that they could read in under 10 or 15 minutes. We could also have Dana, Ekoko, Maria, and me as the featured readers, and then have an open mike.

I'm trying to decide whether to ask Stain Bar, in Williamsburg, and/or Bluestockings Bookstore on the Lower East Side. Stain Bar hosted a poetry reading last Sunday, from 6-8, it was free, and the crowd was decent for a Sunday night. I can walk over there this week and make sure it would be okay for us to get donations for Food Not Bombs. Bluestockings Bookstore is a really awesome bookstore (Maria works there!) but I think that if we asked for donations, a large portion of that money would have to go to them. We could also try having it at a venue on Long Island, but I think that the readings I've gone to in Brooklyn are better attended, and honestly, it's really hard for people from Hempstead to get to Huntington and vise versa.

As an aside, I'm not as interested in putting this together in the sake of raising money -- more just that it's a cool way to bring people together. So here are my questions:

- Would people be interested in coming to something like this?
- Any preference as to location? I haven't asked anywhere yet, so we might not even have a choice.
- Is anyone else interested in reading?

much love,
monk
